- What should a Nigerian invoice include?
- Your business name and contact details, your customer's name and address, an invoice number, the date and a due date, a line for each item or service with quantity and price, and the total. If you are VAT registered, show VAT at 7.5% and include your TIN.
- Do I need to charge VAT on my invoice?
- Only if your business is registered for VAT. Nigeria's standard rate is 7.5%. Businesses below the FIRS registration threshold generally do not charge it — set VAT to none if that is you, and check with your accountant if you are unsure.
- How do I number my invoices?
- Any consistent sequence works. Most businesses use INV-001, INV-002 and so on. What matters is that no number repeats, so you and your customer can always refer to one invoice without ambiguity.
- What is a fair payment term?
- Fourteen days is the most common for small businesses in Nigeria, and this generator uses it by default. Whatever you choose, put a due date on the invoice — an invoice without one gives you nothing to chase against.
